Wavefront - guided LASIK is the use of the latest scientific optical methods to analyse your eye, determining the exact measure of the corrections required, then providing the 'map' of the eye to the laser based vision correction instrumentation (such as the VISX STAR S4).
Wavefront - guided LASIK
The VISX® WaveScanWaveFront®
The VISX WaveScan® is a diagnostic device, which gives Doctor Delaney a representation of your vision,
based on the behaviour of light waves. This device compares the behaviour of light passing
through your eye to the behaviour of light as it would pass through an ideal eye with error-free
imaging. The result is an in-depth representation of the refractive errors or aberrations
present in your vision referred to as a WavePrint® Map. It is the map of the eye sight aberrations which is then entered into the laser correction instrumentation.
Iris Registration
Iris Registration is the first fully automated method of aligning and registering
WaveFront corrections for Advanced CustomVue treatments. This technique matches a
map of the iris taken by the WaveScan®
System with the iris at the time of treatment to align the laser beam and
to correct for cyclotortional
movement of the eye. VISX is the only laser which can carry out this extremely accurate form of mapping, no other system has anything comparable, in fact some other systems require the use of pen and ink to mark.
WavePrint® Map
The WavePrint map is a visual representation of how your optical system processes light. Produced by the VISX WaveScan device, this map provides a more precise and detailed analysis of your vision and is used by Dr Delaney to ensure optimal laser vision correction results. Like a fingerprint, the WavePrint Map is completely unique to each individual.
IntraLase® FS60 Laser
The IntraLase FS (femtosecond) Laser replaces the hand-held microkeratome blade historically used in the first step of LASIK. The computer-guided, ultrafast laser virtually eliminates almost all of the most severe LASIK complications related to microkeratomes1. The FS Laser also creates an optimal surface below the flap, allowing better visual outcomes.
VISX Star S4
The Visx Star S4® is the only laser in Australia to offer many exciting new features, such as:-
- Variable Spot Scanning
- Exclusive VISX laser technology that allows for larger treatment area. It provides variable size and shape beams with scanning capabilities. It offers more flexibility in personalising refractive treatments for myopic, astigmatic, and hyperopic eyes. Exclusive SmartBeam technology adjusts beam size according to treatment, minimising corneal tissue removal.
- ActiveTrak 3D Active Eye Tracking
- The only laser systems that can capture all three dimensions of eye movements. It actively moves that laser beam to compensate for eye movement for greater precision and enhanced safety.
- WaveScan Wavefront System
- WaveScan provides a "fingerprint of the eye" for a new level of precision in personalised laser vision correction treatment. The WavePrint Map reveals the way your entire optical system processes light, providing advanced diagnostic information to the surgeon (Dr Delaney).
- Comfort - No Dilation Required
- Unlike other systems, with ActiveTrak the doctor does not have to dilate your pupils. This means an even quicker recovery time.

Perfect Vision Laser Correction
This new laser has been made available due to the association developed between Dr Delaney and the Perfect Vision Eye Surgery® Facility.
Perfect Vision Laser Correction has located the new equipment in the same building as Dr Delaney's consulting rooms and, since he is one of our most experienced eye surgeons, offered the use of the equipment to him for use in his practice.
